This is an old English crochet pattern for an embroidered dog sweater coat.
It is crocheted in afghan stitch with a size K afghan hook and embroidered with a blunt end tapestry needle. The sweater also has a collar. It attaches by means of an underpiece that buttons to the body of the sweater.
No finished measurements were given for the sweater other than to say that it will fit a small size dog...which likely means that the finished length is approximately 10". This old pattern has a gauge for sizing, but does not specify weight of yarn used. It does have a diagram with embroidery motifs and button on piece illustrated.
