This is a super old pattern for Terriers (Scottie and Highland) that is made with a simple stitch and thick wool for a ribbed sweater coat designed especially for these dogs.
It has been reformatted on acid free paper. The photo has been hand tinted (the original was in black & white). Pattern will include a copy of the photo showing the finished garment, knitting instructions and a needle conversion chart.
This pattern was given to me by a friend who found it in an old scrapbook in Britain. It was one of many patterns that had been collected from newspapers and mounted in this book. According to my friend, who lives in England, it was customary in Britain, prior to about 1950 for knitting patterns to be printed in the newspapers and magazines and they were often collected and preserved in scrapbooks.
The measurements of the finished sweater are: 13 1/2" from neck to end of back. Distance around body is 16". This pattern is in inches (it was before the switch to the metric system) but the needles are UK sizes. I am attaching a conversion chart so that US sizes can be converted easily.
