This is a vintage British Doll pattern for 6 1/2 " dolls (4 1/2" widest part of body). It is a sweet short, puffy sleeved romper with matching booties.
This detailed little pattern even buttons at the bottom like a real baby's set.
Two ply fingering, and a pair of English size 14 knitting needles were used for the romper. A set of 4 double-pointed needles English sized 15 were used for the booties in the original pattern.
Even though this pattern was originally designed for a hard plastic Thumbsucker Baby Doll, Rosebud (a very popular English made doll) ca. late 40's - early 50's, these patterns will also fit 6 1/2" bisque dolls and other miniature baby dolls that are so popular today like Ellery.
If a smaller size is desired, smaller needles and thread can be used. Larger sizes can be made by increasing needles and yarn, for 8" dolls like Tiny Ann Estelle or Betsy McCall, Ginny, Bitty Bethany, Kishlets, Baby Patsy or Marie Osmond's little mini collections or Riley.
