This is an antique English Knitting pattern for miniature dolls 7" tall. English needle size No. 9 was used (Metric sizes 3.75 and US size 4). Three ply fingering was used.
The Pattern consists of a striped bathing suit and cap...although the classic design of the suit could easily be used as a one piece romper or sunsuit. The bathing suit has straps that cross across the back and button at the side seams. The cap also buttons on the side.
Even though this pattern was originally designed for bisque dolls this classic pattern will also fit dolls 7" tall such as Ellery or Riley - or and other little dolls with similar figure types. By using slightly larger needles and/or heavier yarn/thread, this pattern could be adapted to fit larger dolls such as Ginny, Muffy, Alexanderkins. This could also be adapted for antique pocket dolls and Migonnette.
