This is a vintage pattern made for the original 8" Betsy McCall when the doll was first manufactured (ca. 1957). It features four styles of knit dresses: Horizontally striped dress; Coat Dress (buttons up front); Cape Collar Dress; Striped Princess Dress. Instructions are given for English and US needle sizes, although this is an American pattern.
Yarn used for these was a 3 ply nylon yarn and various size knitting needles (US Sizes 1, 2 or 3 and/or English sizes 12, 11, 10) and steel crochet hook No. 7.
These lovely little dolls are being reproduced by Tonner today and are very popular with collectors. With variation in yarn and needle size, these miniature patterns could be adjusted to fit 7" Riley & Tulah, 8" Tiny Ann Estelle, Baby Patsy, Ginny, Muffy and Paulinette. These wonderful, detailed, classic patterns will be perfect for creating one of a kind designs.
